Balloon, Cargo, Oversized: The Three We All Need This Season

This season has so much to do with proportion, size, and comfort. That could sound like sportswear — but it's not. These are three pieces I'm obsessed with, and as we head into travel season, they're items that will go everywhere you go.

It's no surprise that balloon pants are everywhere and would be on a must-have list. However, I'm not a fan of the sheer bloomer ones with lace — I find them a bit too literal. If you're into them, ENJOY! I love the structured cotton ones and the fluid silk ones. The reason I prefer these is that the fabrics pair well with both soft and structured pieces. They also allow for a lot of movement, which gives that "balloon" shape its shape.

Cargo pants are timeless. Yes, they are. But this season the options are endless — fabric, color, sizing — there is truly a cargo pant (or three) for everyone. If you've been wearing them for years, pick a fun color or an oversized shape so it feels fresh. If you haven't tried cargos yet, I'd suggest a classic tan or khaki in a mid-weight cotton that gives both structure and drape.

Oversized shorts have been on the runways for the last few years, and I've loved the evolution. This season I've seen so many that I'll be doubling down. I'm also focused on ones that will transition into fall with boots.
