The 90's Resurgence That Never Left My Closet
The 90s Resurgence That Never Left My Closet
Everywhere I look I see the revival of all things 90s: clothes, music, makeup, hair, strong woman energy. I love it.

But truth be told, my 90s vibe never left. I still scream-sing PJ Harvey and Pearl Jam. I still love a road trip with Mazzy Star and Missy Elliott on repeat. I still struggle with bangs or no bangs. I still prefer ivory over white jeans. I only wear a belt with baggy jeans or men's trousers. I will absolutely still rock a menswear vest with vintage Levi's. And a leather no-name backpack. And aviators. And a white shirt — because a white shirt is always the answer to an outfit you can't quite figure out.
When that iconic Vogue cover dropped — ten supermodels, all white jeans and white shirts — it was a moment. Classic, timeless, and somehow instantly copied by every woman who knew what she was doing. Ivory instead of white. A black belt. The right shoes. Sometimes a blazer. Sometimes a leather jacket. Cool and completely effortless.

That's my first trip to Paris in the photo above. Ivory jeans. Black belt. Sunglasses. I had nowhere specific to be and everywhere to go — shopping, eating, drinking wine, watching people do the same. I looked exactly like myself.
Now, more than ever, I find myself looking back at what I loved then and what I still love. For me it's always the 90s: slip dresses, monochromatic black, menswear reinterpreted for women, one or two good accessories. Those outfits were lived in, tried and true — they went everywhere with you no matter where in the world you roamed. As a stylist, that's always been my philosophy. If your clothes are true to you, they'll work in any city.

Now go pull out that 90s album — vinyl, CD, or Spotify, no judgment — mix yourself a Kir Royale or a Tom Collins, and shop the edit. Enjoy.
